Musée du Louvre – Paris - Ignifugation chêne fumé en autoclave vide & pression - Woodenha Industries

The Louvre

Agence Search has proposed to the Louvre new arrangements for the entrance hall under the Pyramid.
Smoked oak was chosen for its cleaving aesthetic qualities. It is in itself a singular material in its own right. Its manufacturing process is based on oxidation of the tannins with nitrogen during a vacuum drying process. The conventional properties of wood are profoundly modified. R&D work was necessary in our laboratories to modify its fire behavior. A specific development of fireproofing in vacuum & pressure autoclave and an adapted drying thus offered the best possible classification for a wood-based decoration material: M1.
