On December 14, 2018, the inauguration of the new Paris Descartes University Library took place; the B.U. Jeanne Chauvin, in Malakoff is an original architectural program, which favors a balanced integration between the university campus of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management and the characteristic town houses of Malakoff. The project initiated by Canal Architecture was the subject of an architectural competition launched by the Île-de-France Region in 2010.
The equipment favors a balanced integration between the large scale of the university campus and the characteristic town houses of Malakoff. The mixed construction, mainly made of wood, structure, frame, framework and cladding, has an innovative character through the experimental, but controlled use of FSC certified padouk wood, fireproofed with the exclusive BIME®1 process from Woodenha Industries , including the application of a custom-tinted non-derating saturator for the project.
